Company fined 6m afs for trees removal in Kabul
KABUL (Pajhwok): Kabul City Municipality has fined a security company six million afghanis over cutting down several trees on the Airport Road in Kabul, a statement said Thursday.
The trees had been planted between Public Health Square and Airport and they were cut down by a security company to facilitate the installation of security cameras and scanners.
The move angered common people who turned to social media and slammed the company’s action and termed it hazardous for environment.
The company without consulting the municipality cut off at least 24 trees on Airport Road to create space for installation of security cameras and scanners, the municipality said in a statement.
The municipality held an emergency meeting and discussed in detail the chopping of trees and decided to act against the company under article 16, clause five of the urbanization and housing law.
