Attack on Kabul University was against Islam: Ulema

KABU (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Hajjinfo-icon and Islamic Affairs (MHIA) on Wednesday said the attack on Kabulinfo-icon University was an attack on knowledge and it had no Islamic legitimacy.

Mohammad Qasim Halimi, acting hajj and Islamic affairs minister, told a conference here that, “The attack on Kabul University was an assault on knowledge and the center of educationinfo-icon.”

He pointed to the Afghan Ulemainfo-icon’s Fatwainfo-icon two years back, the statement of the imaminfo-icon of Haramain Sharif and Islamic Ulema as well as recent Fatwas from scholars of Indonesia and Bangladesh that the war in Afghanistaninfo-icon was against Islam.

Meanwhile, Ayatullah Azimi, another scholar, termed the attack as an assault on the country’s credibility and said such moves had no humanitarian or Islamic justification.

Mulavi Khliqdad, a member of Afghanistan Ulema Council, talking on behalf of the council, said that attacks on students, teachers, academic areas and killing Muslims were forbidden based on Quraninfo-icon and Sunnah.

“According to the verses of Quran, a murderer will go to the hell and besides that, a murderer is under the anger of God,” he said.

Two days back, at least 22 people were killed and 27 others wounded when three assailants stormed the Kabul University campus.
